I used to be this:
I am a new mother and a newly minted PhD in the sciences. I began the whole dissertation thing with the idea that I wanted to be a professor, but after witnessing the sacrifices, the crazy hours, and the ponzi-like business model, I am running far far away. I only wish I had figured this out earlier. Like, say, 10 years earlier. I’ve always wanted to be a writer, so these days I am working on trying to become a science writer, something I would truly enjoy. At the moment I am a stay at home mom, and most days, this is a good thing.
Now I am this:
I am a the mother of a little boy, born soon after I earned my PhD in the sciences. I picked up my whole family and moved to follow my dream of being a science writer. I currently work as a writer for major science publication in a big US city. I still can’t believe it really happened. This blog serves as an outlet to discuss subjects related to science, my kid, and other aspects of my life that I can’t discuss under my own name. If you enjoy it here, let me know.
