About me and this website

I am a senior-level graduate student in science and engineering with professorial ambitions. I also want to become a mother soon, and am keenly interested to find out how others make that duality work. On bad days I think I want to quit, let hubby make the steady salary, and spend the rest of my life painting and taking photos. But then, science is not something easily done as a side hobby. I am starting this blog in part to thank the many writers whose words I poured over in making my decision to have a child while still in grad school, and to add my version of the story to anyone who wants to listen. Finally, I have always loved writing, and hope this website can provide me a way to be creative, not just in the “big picture” manner of science, but also in that smaller yet more direct manner that is more easily felt each day.
